Volti di pietra – Stone faces: why this name?

Volti di Pietra. If you’ve never been in Italy and in the Marche, probably this is a name such another, but believe me if I tell you that we’ve chosen quite an awkward name for our B&B. In fact it comes from the history of our family and of our land of origin: Sardinia.

Finding it has been an hard task, for a couple of months we asked help to everyone but – as always happened – in the end we chose the last one which pop in our mind, despite the long list of great proposals that our friends and family suggested.

So, why Volti di Pietra?

Volti di pietra means Stone faces, which are the faces carved by my father during the last years on a lot of different kind of stones. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the chance to enjoy this place and live this dream with us, so we have decided to bring his artworks with us and put them all around the house. They are part of our family and we hope you too will like them as we do!

Stone faces are our way to stay in touch with Sardinia, where the stones are a peculiar part of the landscape and – more symbolically – of the character of the people.

Stone faces are soft lineaments on hard materials, the expression of individual passion and creativity.

For all these reasons, Stone faces – Volti di Pietra – is the best name for our B&B. And, above all, we also have our personal exposition of contemporary art at home 😉
